iPrism is an Internet filter which controls the content that passes over your network. Internet filters are an asset that prevent spyware and malware from propagating throughout your network, save bandwidth and network resources, and limit productivity drains. iPrism Internet filters are also a great way to enforce acceptable use policies, which define how employees can use the Internet at work for both business and personal reasons.
The way Internet filters are implemented can have either a negative or positive effect on your business. Internet filters can help you identify and track how employees are using the Internet and how effective your policies are. iPrism has Internet filter tools to make it easy for you to implement Internet filter solutions so that you get the most advantage out of your Internet policies and your employees have the least amount of interference in their regular work:
- The iGuard database has easy to configure Internet filters based on categories and types of sites. Overrides allow users to access sites they need which would otherwise be blocked by the Internet filter.
- User profiles allow different kinds of access to different sites for different employees, which add flexibility for how any kind of organization applies Internet filters.
- Customizable Internet filter reporting for information across a network or by profiles, user names, or IP address. The Real-Time Monitor allows you to track Internet usage, as it happens.

iPrism Internet filters use an industry-leading Internet filter database, iGuard. iGuard is a complete Internet filter database of URLs, individual web pages, which are organized by keyword, by context, and by image recognition, and every page is human-reviewed to verify context. Every single web page is organized in one of 63 categories. The Internet filters are configured to allow, monitor, or block access to pages within that category. These Internet filters provide highly accurate filtering. It also allows fine-grained control over which pages are blocked; a single page can be blocked on a site, but rest of the site is still available.
User profiles allow different kinds of Internet filters for different users. An Internet filter profile is set up by selecting what categories and subcategories are monitored (tracked but allowed) and blocked. There are also Internet filter rules to require safe browsing, setting restrictions on the size of downloads, and time ranges allowing access to categories. Overrides let users get past a block on a page.
iPrism Internet filters can help determine how your network is being used. iPrism Internet filters have custom reports which show, by the network, profiles, or users, information such as what kind of sites are visited, how much users are on the Internet, what sites are blocked, and when overrides are applied to fine-tune the allowed content for Internet filter profiles. Additionally, the Real-Time Monitor shows the usage at that very moment, and, like Internet filter reporting, can be configured to show activity for the entire network or a single user.
